What I Love About Spain

Hey guys!

If you read my Garnier Micellar Water Review, you'll be aware that I went to Spain last week. Since I didn't take many photos during my holiday, I thought I'd do a post on the things that I love about Spain instead. It's no secret that I adore Spain - I've been there at least 10 times and I'm eager to go again! Spain is such a beautiful country and there are so many places to explore. I have yet to visit Valencia and the North of Spain, as well as the islands - Tenerife and Lanzarote are high on my list. So, without further ado, here is a list of the things I love about Spain!

1. The weather

I think this is an obvious one. Spain has glorious sunshine 300+ days a year. You can pretty much hop on the plane to Spain at any time of the year and be guaranteed hot weather. Living in England, I'm used to rain, wind and freezing cold weather. It's nice to go to Spain and not have to wear so many layers and shiver constantly!

2. Tapas

Tapas are one of my favourite types of food. I love tortilla, chorizo and patatas bravas. There are some restaurants in London that serve tapas, but unfortunately they don't quite match up to the quality of the tapas you get in Spain. That being said, I do like the tapas at Iberica and Ambiente (which is in York).

3. The people

The Spanish are really friendly and they seem to have so much to say - you could literally talk to them for hours! The downside is that they all speak English quite well so I don't get much of a chance to practice my Spanish! This brings me onto my fourth point...

4. The language

Spanish is a beautiful language, there's no denying that. It's so romantic and rhythmic.

5. The traditions

I love flamenco dancing. I've watched it in both Barcelona and Marbella. The dresses are beautiful. I still don't quite get the appeal of bullfighting and throwing tomatoes at each other though (not that I've ever experienced either or plan to)...

6. The relaxed vibes

Spanish people are so laid back. They never rush anywhere. I don't think I've ever experienced a traffic jam when I've been in Spain and I haven't had to queue to enter a club or even get a drink from a bar. I also love the idea of a siesta - it's definitely necessary when its 30-odd degrees outside!

7. It's safe

Honestly, I don't think I've ever felt unsafe when I've been in Spain. I've never come across any pickpocketing or anything in Spain either, even in the major cities. If I ever live abroad, I'd have no doubts about choosing Spain.

8. The architecture

Spanish buildings are unique and stunning. The buildings designed by Gaudi in Barcelona are so intricate and vibrant. I particularly like La Sagrada Familia and Casa Batllo. When I went to Seville I was in awe of Plaza de Espana. Although it looks old, this building was only built at the beginning of the twentieth century.

What I Love About Autumn and Winter

Hey guys!

Before beginning this post, I thought I'd just mention that I'm not the biggest fan of Autumn and Winter. Now I know that's strange, considering the title of this post, but don't get me wrong, there are still a few things I do like about this time of year. What I'm not so keen on, however, is the cold weather. Being a naturally cold weather, the 10+ months of rain, wind and cold we get in England is not ideal. I long for the warm weather. Anyway, this post is not about summer, it's about Autumn and Winter. So, without further ado, here are some things I like about these two seasons:

1. Hot chocolate

I'm more of a hot chocolate drinker than a tea or coffee drinker. However, I don't think it's socially acceptable to drink hot chocolate when it's warm inside. At least in Autumn and Winter I can get away with drinking it! I love topping my hot chocolate with marshmallows - it becomes just that little bit sweeter. Funnily enough, I tend to stick to the milk chocolate variety as although I love white chocolate, I find it a bit sickly in drink form.

2. Jumpers

I love jumpers! Though, to be honest, I don't have nearly enough! The great thing about jumper is that they pretty much go with anything, and you can just throw them on over a vest top and wear with jeans or a skirt. Simples!

3. Leaves crunching beneath your feet

How adorable?!

Isn't it just so satisfying?! Autumn leaves are so beautiful too.

4. Halloween

I haven't really had a "big" Halloween as such since I was in primary school, but it's still one of my most favourite days (or rather nights) of the year. I love dressing up (though I'm kinda boring and nearly always go as a witch) and there's always a good selection of films to watch on TV. Addams Family is my fave - it's so funny! Maybe I'll dress up as Wednesday this year, we'll see!

5. Christmas

How could I not include this?! Christmas is undoubtedly my most favourite time of the year. I love the food, the presents, the carols, the shop windows...and Winter Wonderland. This place is just incredible! I've been there at least ten times during the last four years! Here's a link to the photos I took at Winter Wonderland last year: Hyde Park and Winter Wonderland. There are also some brilliant Christmas films, such as Miracle on 34th Street, Home Alone and Gremlins.

6. My birthday

My birthday is in January, so of course that is another thing I love about Winter. I'll be 22 on my upcoming birthday! Ah, scary!! I'll be able to sing Taylor Swift all day!!

What are your favourite things about this time of year? Do you know what you're going as for Halloween yet?! Do you have a favourite Halloween / Christmas film? I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Hasta luego!

Lyme Regis

Hey guys!

Last week I went to stay with my grandparents in Lyme Regis, a small coastal town in Dorset. Being England, the weather was typically dull and rainy, and I didn't get a lot of sunshine while I was by the sea (probably around six hours total), so I wasn't able to take as many photos as I'd hoped. However, I did take a few and I'll share them anyway.

I bought some things when I went on a day trip to Bridport with my gran and here's a collage of them:

I purchased a couple of notebooks and a mechanical pen from a gift shop (not that I need any more stationery!). I love the designs on the notebooks - they're so pretty! You'll be shocked at how much (or rather, how little) I bought them for! I also had a wander around the charity shops while I was in Bridport and I picked up a slightly old copy of The Language of Flowers in the Cancer Research shop. Don't you just love the cover?!

I also bought some fudge while I was in Lyme Regis because you can't go on holiday in England and not buy fudge!

Onto the pics I took at the Folk Festival...

Such interesting and unusual costumes!

Paella! (took with my phone so quality isn't as good as the previous photos)

Yummy! (also taken with my phone)

And around the beach...

Sun!

I love beach huts!

Beautiful sunset!

Have you ever been to Lyme Regis (or Bridport)? Where did you go on holiday this summer?
Hasta luego!

The Summer Tag

Hey guys!

I was tagged by Cora Lawson to do the Summer Tag and finally got round to uploading my post today.

 1. There’s no doubt that the season that best defines Greece is summer! It’s the Mediterranean sun, the deep blue sea, the cloudless skies, the endless coastline. It’s all these and everything else that cannot be found but in this tiny part of the world, in the South-East of Europe. Imagine that, you are relaxing here. What are you sipping on? (Favourite summer drink)

Ooo, this is a tough one! I think I will have to go with Pina Colada! It's such a refreshing drink and I haven't had it for ages!

Yummy!

2. What is your favourite clothing item?

This has got to be dresses! I almost always wear dresses!

3. What is your favourite summer accessory?

Sunglasses!

4. What is your favourite body spray and perfume?

Hm...I quite like Soap & Glory body sprays!

5. Summer = crazy hair! What's your must-have styling product?

Any spray that will make my hair less tangled! I personally love John Freida products!

6. What's your favourite summer nail polish?

I tend to go for red or pink nail polish.

7. What's your favourite summer-proof product?

Sun cream I guess.

8. What is your favourite lip colour this summer?

Light pink.

9. What is your favourite blush for summer?

I don't really use blush. Ends up making my cheeks look too pink!

10. What beauty product is essential for you during the summer?

Body spray! Also sun cream!

11. What is your favourite summer candle?

I never use candles so I'll have to skip this question.

12. What are your favourite spots for vacation?

Spain, Spain, and - you guessed correctly - Spain! Can you believe that my dad has gone there with my brother and left me behind in England?! Shocking, much?! It's made me realise that I seriously need to organise a holiday with my friends! Can't keep putting it off! But I'm going to Dorset at some point in August so I won't be stuck in London all summer!

13. Is there a picture or quote that inspires you this summer?

This just sums up summer!

14. And lastly, have you published any blog posts about summer?

I tag the following people:

Enjoy!

Hasta luego!
